Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its hair is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously knot by knot, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, giving a cool feeling. And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
