Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool.
Please note that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

If requested, the pom-poms on the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
