Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who graze their herds in Iran's Zagros Mountains. They are made from naturally dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, handcrafted by Iranian nomads, are known for their plush and comfortable texture, dyed with natural pigments. They are woven strand by strand with meticulous care.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs can be enjoyed for a lifetime; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, as well as uneven weaving and dyeing. Please consider these characteristics as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
