Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, woven with this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also known for being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but they are also artistic enough to be hung on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be some distortion in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
