Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads who wander the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
