Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a large amount of lanolin for excellent temperature regulation, resulting in soft, pleasant-feeling fibers.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, thoroughly wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shady area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, uneven weaving, and uneven dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
