Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering comfort even in heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
