Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are dyed with natural plant dyes and deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product, native to the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability for survival and contains abundant oil, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that adeptly regulates body temperature.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh rug is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique and original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep to remove dirt and dust along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
