Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who weave them by hand using vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads using this natural dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And, above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They are so artistic that they can be displayed on a wall as art, not just on the floor. Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can enjoy for many years to come?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
