Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, featuring long piles and wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to the high fat content that helps with thermoregulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. The designs, imagined by nomads, often feature animals and plants, making each Gabbeh a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
