Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven rugs with long piles, made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for efficient body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, without feeling hot.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape, pattern, weave, and dye. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
Please be aware that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping
The pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
