Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven by hand with care by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it in advance.
