Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its high oil content makes it soft and pleasant to the touch, while also regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features animal and plant designs, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.

Daily Care

Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth until it's barely damp, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortions, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment

The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
