Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads one strand at a time from this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, a distinct odor from the dye used for the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
