Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads, who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high lanolin content, which helps with temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And, of course, there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They are not only perfect for placing on the floor but also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping in the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique scent from the wool and dyes. The smell will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon shipment
The pompoms located at the corners and along the edges of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
