Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, providing a comfortable feel. And, above all, is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
