Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomadic people in Iran who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability. Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing you from feeling hot. And, above all, is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomadic people, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used on the floor, of course, but also as art on the wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. The smell will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
