Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A tightly woven Gabbeh rug is said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original. They can be used on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung out towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping
The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before delivery upon request. Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug. If you wish for the pompoms to be removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
