Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomadic tribe, who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using naturally dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that live in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, providing excellent durability for survival and containing abundant oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs, meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from the climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
