Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. These long-piled rugs are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for effective temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
These wool fibers are dyed with natural dyes and then meticulously hand-woven, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads, creating Gabbehs that are characteristically plush and feel wonderful to the touch.
Well-woven Gabbehs are incredibly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat retention.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as a work of art.
Why not discover your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping if you request it.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
