Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture, rich in oil, helps with temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, one by one, by Iranian nomads, using this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
The smell will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
