Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers.
These wool fibers are dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, characterized by its fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can use forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
