Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are deeply rooted in daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in lanolin for effective temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
