Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, handwoven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for excellent temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs are made by hand-dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads, resulting in their characteristic plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing comfort even in heat. And then there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern distortion, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the unique charm of a handwoven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pompoms does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
