Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
