Features of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their way of life, featuring long piles made from plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for surviving in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps with body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven with this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are made to be enjoyed for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortions, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
