Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content, allowing for effective body temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, woven individually and meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, are also characterized by their warmth in winter and their breathability in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. Please note that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
