Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to the high oil content that helps regulate body temperature.
These rugs are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel, as Iranian nomads carefully hand-weave each one with wool dyed using natural dyes.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be placed on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Precautions
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weave, and dye. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dye used for the wool.
The scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

If requested, the pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
