Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture contains a high fat content, allowing for good temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven knot by knot by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, one that you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
If cleaning is needed: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
