Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains and hand-weave them using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
