Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as a fundamental part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, with this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can use for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, or dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
