Characteristics of Hand-woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives and feature a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, enabling it to withstand the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please appreciate these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
