Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday rugs handwoven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, indicating their superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being handwoven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a handwoven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
