Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made with plant-dyed wool and featuring a long pile. The sheep's wool used in this product, known as "Persian Varianten," possesses excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, resulting in Gabbeh rugs that are famously fluffy and pleasant to the touch.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a comfortable coolness.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping

If you prefer, we can remove the pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh rug before shipping.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
