Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture rich in natural oils for effective thermoregulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this wool, dyed with natural dyes, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung out towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
