Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, handwoven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability and contains a high amount of lanolin, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, with their wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat buildup. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For noticeable stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handweaving. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon shipment

The pompoms attached to the corners or mid-sections of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
