Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as a fundamental part of their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that live in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possessing excellent durability for survival and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it beforehand.
