Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. These long-piled rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-knotting each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, crafted from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike. They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before shipping if you request it. Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
