Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel, rich in oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this naturally dyed wool one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their soft and fluffy texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Precautions
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
