Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, featuring long piles made from vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for excellent body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made from such wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, meticulously wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
