Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product, developed to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils for effective temperature regulation.
Gabbehs, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, one thread at a time, using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbehs, created in a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
