Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives and crafted using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this natural-dyed wool, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time, so why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If cleaning is needed: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery upon request.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
