Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture rich in oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomadic Iranians who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to the nature of hand-weaving, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
