Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains. It also contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft to the touch and excellent for temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and then meticulously hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh rugs that are plush and wonderfully soft to the touch.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation even in heat.
And, of course, there's their artistic quality. The designs, often depicting animals and plants, are created from the nomads' imaginations, meaning each Gabbeh is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or variations in dye. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Furthermore, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping if you request it.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your Gabbeh shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
