Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing the feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. The Gabbeh created imaginatively by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original item.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as art, as well as on floors.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
