Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai people, nomadic tribes who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often features designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
Please be aware that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
