Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. These long-piled rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is soft to the touch and contains a high amount of natural oils, providing excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as superior temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven with great care by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Gabbeh rugs, woven tightly, are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as art, in addition to being placed on floors.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
