Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a high amount of lanolin for effective thermoregulation. These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability. Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
