Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh conditions of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers. The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs, meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a comfortable feel. And, above all, is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations feature many animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. Please be aware that this odor will gradually dissipate with use.
