Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as a fundamental part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high fat content to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads using this natural dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
